From: Tom Opapa Sent: Thursday, August 26, 2010 7:47 AM To: Peter Ochieng Cc: Chief Executive Subject: Thank You Hello Peter, I take this opportunity to thank you most sincerely for organizing, coordinating the Kinshasa International Trade Fair by linking us with key importers from DRC. It was very kind of you to accompany us during those visits, and greatly gained a lot from your French speaking skills. This being the first time that we participated in the FIKIN, we are encouraged by Export Promotion Council real commitment to improving exports within the region. Once again, thank you for an excellent job done during the exhibition, and we look forward to working together in the future and grow our exports. Regards, Tom (New KCC) |

The Maasai woman is taunted as the busiest in Kenya. Besides the normal chores that every woman has in a household, she gets to do others like building manyattas (Maasai houses) herding and milking livestock, this kind of workload hardly leaves time for anything else. The women are involved in production of traditional hand made Maasai crafts such as bracelets, passport holders, necklaces, decorations and beadwork of cloth and leather. These products are sold and proceeds divided amongst the members. Each woman has an average of 5 children and therefore this initiative provides funds for their education, food, clothing and medical care for over 1200 people. |

I wish to thank the Export Promotion Council for developing website for SMEs. Our website has had several hits and business has already commenced with one of the prospect from Cairo. We started off with a trial order of just half a ton in February 2008. Gradually we have developed this to a regular order of 1 ton of avocados per week. In the process we have learnt that even though the Egypt does not import mangoes, they have taken great interest in our Ginger and cashew nuts, which we have already sampled to them. We expect this to open up demand for other varieties as we continue to send out more samples with every shipment. We shall endeavour to maintain a good foothold on this promising market, which is also an important member of COMESA. Peter Muchoki Tender Crop Farms Kenya Limited |
